We left July 5 with our 7 yr old granddaughter, Jessie, and Dude in the backseat for our latest adventure. We traveled to a lovely...not!...Motel 6 in Fresno the first day to break up the drive for our newbie passenger, Jessie. She's not used to traveling but will be by the time she's back home again! We'll skip the part about Fresno but it involved calling the police and breaking up a fight....oh and we also went to the movies. We met Jessie's parents, Garrett and Mendie, at the Fresno Motel 6. They rode up the 99 on their road-worthy Harley. Oh, about the fight, it was between a girl and a guy and the guy was getting the worst of it. I wouldn't have been much bothered but it was in front of our room and I didn't want them hurting our rig our Garrett's bike so I made the motel office call the police. Fight was broke up and we got some good sleep!
The next day we headed for Yosemite. What a nice drive it was, windy road and beautiful trees! We arrived midday and set up camp. Shortly after our arrival, the bike riders and my sister Sue showed up. We got to chat, get caught up and have a great dinner in the open air. Each of the next two days we drove into Yosemite National Park and saw the most beautiful sights. We hiked to Yosemite Falls and Mirror Lake. There's a terrific tram system in the Park and it relieved us of having to drive ourselves to each attraction.
On Friday Sue left for home and the rest of us spent the day around camp. We walked down to the river and plunged in from boulders. The water was cold but refreshing and we enjoyed the sunshine in the water. Dude even had a good time. He ran around and around thru the water and rolled in the reeds.
Two days ago we left Yosemite and Jessie's parents behind. They were headed home and we're headed to Spokane, Washington. Yesterday passed uneventfully and we made it to Susanville where we spent the night. Today wasn't so lucky...... : - ( We left Susanville at a good time but about an hour out Bruzer (our truck) started having problems and losing power. We limped into Alturas, CA about noon at 35 miles per hour. Don't feel too sorry for us yet....Ed thinks that it's just the fuel filter and we've got an appt for tomorrow morning at 7am to have it checked. The shop will even be able to hook up the computer and check out the "check engine" warning light that came on. We should be up and running by mid-morning tomorrow! On the road again.....!
